SUMMARY:Leelanau Summer: New Paintings by Joseph Lombardo
DESCRIPTION:Ohio artist Joseph Lombardo exhibits new paintings of Glen Arbor\, July 17-23\, Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. The show opens with a public reception July 17 at 6 p.m. \nLombardo\, an adjunct professor at Columbus College of Art and Design\, first visited Glen Arbor in 2009 and executed the first of his Michigan-in-Summer series. Through this evolving group of oil paintings Lombardo is able to explore the Leelanau landscape\, its light – both luminous and dappled — and the bright colors that characterize the region in summer. \nAs part of his exhibition\, Lombardo conducts a demonstration at Center Gallery\, July 18\, 1 p.m. This demonstration is an opportunity to watch the artist work\, and to talk with him about his process and technique.
