SUMMARY:Blossom: A Springtime Members Show
DESCRIPTION:The Glen Arbor Art Association is holding an exhibition of 35 of its members’ paintings and photographs.  There will be an opening reception 6 pm – 8 pm\, Friday\, May 15 and the exhibit viewing will be open weekdays until June 15. The show will be judged and prizes will be announced at the opening reception. Most artwork will be for sale and many of the artists will be on hand to meet the public at the reception.

SUMMARY:Charles Murphy: New Paintings
DESCRIPTION:Center Gallery opens its 2015 May 22 with new works of Up North icons by Traverse City painter Charles Murphy. A public reception for the artist is 6 p.m. at the gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. \n  \nMurphy’s new body of work reflects his affinity for classic\, northern Michigan symbols – boats\, barns\, birds and the diverse landscape. He looks for subjects that have a strong “local” presence\, and records them as sketches\, which are later finished in the studio. Murphy’s evocative\, emotive impressions of his homeplace are executed in a richly saturated palette using watercolor\, oil and acrylic. \n  \nTwo artist’s demonstrations are scheduled as part of this exhibition\, June 6 and June 20\, 1 p.m. at Center Gallery.
