SUMMARY:Ranger-led Snowshoe Hikes at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
DESCRIPTION:Come explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) on snowshoes this winter! Join park rangers for a guided snowshoe hike this holiday season and every Saturday throughout the winter. The first hike of the season will be on Saturday\, December 27\, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. The snowshoe hikes will continue to be offered every Saturday at 1:00 p.m. through March 7\, 2015. Meet at the National Lakeshore’s Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire. If you don’t have your own snowshoes\, a pair will be loaned at no charge. Participants need only purchase the park entrance pass or have an annual pass to join in the fun. \nReservations are required whether you need to borrow snowshoes or have your own.  Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are limited to 30 participants. Festivities include Perch Fishing Contest + a Chili Cook-Off.\n\nRSVP + Invite your friends\, via Facebook Event Page\n\nPerch Fishing Contest\nFestivities start at 7am with the beginning of the Perch Fishing Contest\, with prizes for 1st through 4th place catches. All participants will bring their biggest catches from Big and Little Glen Lake to the Sportsman Shop at 1pm\, and winners will then be crowned. Entry fee for this event is $20\, and all ages are welcome. \n> DOWNLOAD: 2015 Perch Fishing Contest Entry Form\nChili Cook-off\nThe Chili Cookoff\, kicks off at Noon on the deck at Boonedocks (on the corner of M22 and Ray Street) in Glen Arbor. Entrants will compete to earn chili bragging rights. 1st through 5th Place winners\, as determined by popular vote\, receive a plaque commemorating the 2015 Chili Cook-off. There’s only one category: CHILI ! – however you define it!\n \nAll proceeds from this event go directly to the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Glen Lake Schools Scholarship Fund. This is a family friendly event\, just be sure to dress warmly! If you’d like to participate\, the entry fee is $25 per chili.
