SUMMARY:'Postcards From The Lake': Peggy Hawley/Bill Perkins
DESCRIPTION:There’ll be “Postcards From The Lake\,” an exhibition of work celebrating summer at the cottage by painter Peggy Hawley and twig furniture maker Bill Perkins July 25-31\, Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. A reception opens the show July 25\, 6 p.m. \n  \nHawley\, a Frankfort resident\, has created a series of narrative paintings that are vignettes from an imagined summer vacation at Lake Michigan. Her oil paintings express a dream-like quality of remembrance\, summer light and old cottages with rowboats on the shore. Postcards with quick jottings accompany each painting\, and tell a short story about each of the works. \n  \nPerkins was first introduced to the idea of making furniture from branches\, twigs and bark when he was a child visiting an “up-north cottage.” The Cedar resident’s work evokes the tradition of Adirondack camp furniture and the Arts and Crafts Movement aesthetic. \n  \nFor more information please call 231/334-3179.

SUMMARY:Artist Reception and Exhibit - Susan Jacoby
DESCRIPTION:Susan Jacoby\, of Winnetka\, Illinois will exhibit oil paintings. She has a MFA from Northwestern University and a BFA from Denison University. She is active in art organizations in the Chicago area; a docent at the Museum of Contemporary Art and founder and leader of Art Smart program in Winnetka\, among others. Her work has been exhibited widely in the Midwest\, including the “Art of the Sleeping Bear Dunes” at the Dennos Museum in Traverse City.
