SUMMARY:Leelanau Land and Water: Paintings by Margo Burian
DESCRIPTION:Paintings of Leelanau County’s land and water – as processed through the imagination of Grand Rapids artist Margo Burian – are on display next at Center Gallery\, 6023 S. Lake St.\, Glen Arbor. A public reception opens the show July 18\, 6 p.m. \n  \nBurian’s lush\, atmospheric oil paintings of the region are not\, she says\, a strict record of natural features and landmarks. “I have taken liberties with place and nature to move the painting from an accounting or laundry list to an interpretation\,” Burian said. Water – and its “ability to change at a moment’s notice” – plays an important role in her painting\, which begin as field sketches\, then developed in her studio. \n  \nThis show continues through July 24. SUMMARY:Artist Reception and Exhibit - Veronica Schaden
DESCRIPTION:Veronica Schaden\, of Rochester\, Michigan holds a MA from Wayne State University where she studied drawing. She has taught art education to developmentally disabled adults and she has been on the faculty of Oakland Community College and Oakland University as well as being a founding member of the Paint Creek Art Center in Rochester. She is a printmaker\, painter\, book and paper maker and has shown her work in numerous regional exhibits. Acrylic is her medium of choice\, as well as using collage\, drawing\, and printmaking on different pieces.

DESCRIPTION:The Wine on the Water Festival will feature tastes from 12 Leelanau wineries\, a distillery\, a brewery\, delicious food from 5 Leelanau restaurants\, art by local talent\, and live music from local legends Billy Strings\, Don Julin\, and The Bohemians featuring Dawn Campbell. Join us for a fantastic day of wine on the water!\nPre-purchased tickets are $15 ($20 at the gate)\, which includes a commemorative wine glass and two tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased at the event for $2 each. Ticket sales and additional tasting purchases all benefit the Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
