Cherry Public House is planned to open by Memorial Day Weekend in a soft opening, with a grand opening party planned for June 16 from 4-10pm. That event – a fundraiser for Leelanau Conservancy’s Palmer Woods Bike Trail – will feature a block party with the street closed off and live musical acts including Joshua Davis and May Erlewine.
Cherry Republic will open its new year-round restaurant and brewery called Cherry Public House at 6026 S. Lake Street prior to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Featuring the Cherry Republic Brewing Company, a new dinner menu, and an ice cream/bakery counter, the building has been “completely transformed,” according to Communications Director Mary Winowiecki. “Natural wood accents, expansive windows, and vaulted ceilings make the former Grand Cafe feel bright and airy while still evoking that iconic and slightly quirky Cherry Republic feel that our ‘citizens’ have come to know and love.”
The Public House will offer four cherry-themed beers, eight traditional craft brews, and three ciders. Hoping to attract a large dinner crowd, the restaurant’s expanded food menu will feature entrees like hand-cut steaks, ribs, pork chops, whitefish and pasta. Once open, Cherry Public House will operate daily from 8 a.m. until last call at 10 p.m.
